CHILDREN'S HEALTH SCOTLAND - NATIONAL HEALTH RIGHTS SURVEY 2026 - CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE

Children’s Health Scotland works to ensure every child in Scotland has the right to the best possible health and understands their health rights. We provide support programmes for children with health conditions, as well as for Kinship and Foster Carers. We are the only charity in Scotland that focuses on the healthcare needs and rights of children with health conditions, and we work with children, families, carers, teachers, and health professionals to help everyone understand how to support children’s health and wellbeing

Children are not small adults. They differ from adults socially, mentally, and physically, and adult health policies and services do not work for children. Under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), Article 24, children have the right to the best possible health. The European Association For Children In Hospital And Healthcare (EACH) Charter also states that children have the right to care that recognises their age and individual needs, to be listened to, to receive clear information, and to feel safe and supported when using services that support their health. Scotland’s GIRFEC approach underpins this work by ensuring every child gets the right support at the right time, centred around their wellbeing needs.

This survey gives children across Scotland the chance to share their experiences so professionals can better respect and uphold their rights.

In this survey, you choose a number from 1 to 5 to show how much you agree.

1 means ‘I don’t agree at all’ and 5 means ‘I totally agree!’” and the numbers in between are in the middle. Choose the number that fits your feeling best.

(In this survey, as in the UNCRC, the word ‘children’ is used to refer to babies, children, and young people below the age of 18.)

Please note, in this survey, the word ‘health’ is used to refer to the three parts of health – physical, mental and social.

There are well over 400,000 dads with dependent children in Scotland yet their voices often go unnoticed.

For over 15 years Fathers Network Scotland have been asking dads to share their experience. We want to speak up for dads during these uncertain times & ensure that the government, public services and employers understand and are better able to support dads and their families. But we need your help…

This short survey takes about 5-10 mins to complete. We want to understand how you are coping at home and work, hear about your experiences of family life, spending time with your children, and the role technology plays in everyday parenting.

What you tell us will provide crucial evidence to better advocate for dads and their families and build a better Scotland.

Digital Wellbeing Survey

A Digital Wellbeing survey for children and young people and a survey for parents / carers that the Scottish Government was launched on 19 August.

The surveys seek to gather the views and experiences of children and young people and parents/carers in relation to their online activities, digital wellbeing, online safety, use of social media and digital devices, and the support and information they may find helpful. The results of this survey would inform the development of Scottish Government policy, guidance and services relating to online safety and digital wellbeing. Links below.

National Lottery Good Causes: Fund what matters to you

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is launching a call for evidence on the future of National Lottery good cause funding.

Since 1994, the National Lottery has generated over £53 billion for good causes across the UK, funding elite and grassroots sport, cultural institutions and local community projects. We want to hear from the public on how this funding can better align with modern priorities, reach the areas that need it most and how we can reduce bureaucracy.

Digital Violence Against Women and Girls in Scotland: The Impact on Young Women’s Lives

In the past, Status of Young Women in Scotland has explored young women’s human rights; access to healthcare; employment opportunities; body image and political engagement. We have published seven reports in this series to date, and are now undertaking the research for the eighth edition, focusing on digital violence against young women and girls and its real-life impact on young women in Scotland.

Digital violence refers to harmful behaviours that take place online or through technology and it is not separate from violence in the physical world. Online and offline violence against women and girls are deeply connected: they reinforce each other, and apps and digital tools are increasingly being weaponised to intensify abuse. At the same time, we know that digital spaces offer genuine opportunities for young women for connection, creativity, education, advocacy, and financial independence.

We want to to hear from you.

The below survey is open to young women, trans women and non-binary people aged 16–30 who currently live in Scotland. Taking part is entirely optional, but doing so will help us to better understand the issues facing young women in Scotland today. By sharing your views, you are directly taking part in changing things for the better for young women and girls – we will use the findings to engage with the government, decision-makers and service providers to make sure young women’s voices are listened to.

Taking part should take no more than 20 minutes, and all responses are anonymous and confidential. As a thank you for your time, you can enter a prize draw for a £50 Prezzee voucher and a limited edition scarf, made from 100% lambswool in The Young Women’s Movement’s custom centenary tartan.

What is the National Conversation?

The National Conversation is a UK-wide listening initiative, inviting people right across the country to share what they value about community life and the kind of communities they want to build together.

Something has shifted in how people experience community life. Trust feels more fragile. Connections that once held neighbourhoods together – the school gates, the high street, the local pub, the place of worship – are harder to find in many places. And too many people feel that nobody is asking what they think about it.

We’re faced with generational questions on how we live well together and our vision for the kind of country and kind of communities we are trying to build, which is why the National Conversation gives people across the UK the chance to share their lived experiences and thoughts on what community life feels like and how we can “live well together” in the future.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Plans - Consultation

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) invites you to share your views on the draft Local Fire and Rescue Plan for your local authority area.

Local Plans set out how we will work to keep people safe in your community over the coming years, based on the specific risks and needs in your local authority area.

They outline:

Our priorities for prevention, protection and emergency response

How we will work with partners to improve safety outcomes for everyone

Your feedback is important and will help ensure the Plan reflects local priorities, concerns and opportunities.

We are particularly interested in your views on whether we have:

The results of this consultation will be used to inform the final version of the Plan, and we will publish a summary of what we hear, including how feedback has shaped our approach.
